Rifuges in the Brenta Group

There are many refuges and bivouacs to be found in the Brenta Group. Most of these are open from 20th June to 20th September. A few are also open in Winter, the Graffer refuge is one of these. Others situated under 2000 mt of altitude could stay open for a longer period and be open at week ends. They are all reachable via marked routes, the numbers of which are marked in red and white. The numbers for the Brenta Group go from 301 to 399.

Agostini refuge

Situated at 2410mt at the top of the Val d’Ambiez.

Reachable from S.Lorenzo in Banale via path number 325 for the Val d’Ambiez.

12 Apostoli refuge

Situated at the Conca del Prato Fiorito at 2489 mt.

Reachable from the Val d’Agola via paths number 324 and 307. TIME c 3 hrs,30 mins.

From Giustino, Val Flanghinech path number 307. TIME c 5 hrs 20 min.

From Massimeno (Val Rendena) via path number 354. TIME : c 5 hrs 30 min

From Malga Movlina via path numbers 354 and 307. TIME c 2hr 30 min.

Al Cacciatore refuge San Lorenzo

Situated at 1800 mt alt. half way up the Val Ambiez. It’s a natural connection between the two orographic sides.

Reachable from S. Lorenzo in Banale via path number 325.

Alimonta refuge

Situated in the heart of the Brenta Group at 2580 mt alt. in a central position as to the Via delle Bocchette, close to the Bocca d’Armi. The nearest refuge is the Brentei.

Reachable from the Val Brenta via path number 323.

TIME : c 5 hr. It can also be reached, in much less time, from the Groste Pass and from the Vallesinella ( Madonna di Campiglio).

Alpenrose rifuge

Situated in a sunny position at an altitude of 1074 mt at the foot of Mount Prada at S. Lorenzo in Banale, Valli Giudicarie.

Reachable in five minutes by car via a steep, winding asphalt road. It’s the ideal starting point for many excursions over the green slopes of Mount Prada or for more difficult excursions to the Val Ambiez via the Bregain pass.

Brentei refuge

The Brentei refuge is situated on the high part of the Brenta valley on a large grassy terrace (2175 m.). It's situated in a central position as to the classical excursions on the vie ferrate of the Brenta Group. It's connected directly with the following refuges: Casinei, Alimonta, Tuckett, Pedrotti, Agostini, and 12 Apostili .

Reachable from Madonna di Campiglio in 2,40 hours via the path No. 317 and No.318.

Casinei refuge

Situated at Poggio dei Casinei at 1825 mt alt.

Croz Altissimo refuge

Even though this refuge is situated at a relatively low altitude ( 1430 mt), it remains in the heart of the Brenta Group. The refuge, run by Felice Spellini, a well known alpine guide, is close to the peaks of the central chain of the group.

Ghedina refuge

Situated in the Val d’Algone at 1128 mt alt.

Reachable from Stenico / Ragoli’s provincial road n° 34 . Departure point for the 12 Apostoli refuge or Malga Movlina.

Graffer refuge

This refuge, situated at 2261 mt in the Brenta Group, is in a strategic position. It’s close to the Groste pass and is thus a point of confluence for most of the routes which connect the northern part to the central part of the Group.

Reachable from various ways and/or via lifts from Madonna di Campiglio.

Malga Andalo refuge

A small refuge situated at the foot of Mount Daino, over lake Molveno and opposite the Pradel plateau.

Reachable from the camping site at Molveno via path 332 or via the Donini equipped path which also ascends from Molveno close to bar Ciclamino.

Montanara refuge

Wonderful position at Tovre ( 1525 mt)

Reachable from Molveno and Andalo.

Possible to get there via lifts from Molveno.

Pedrotti alla Tosa refuge

This refuge was built on a rocky crag a few metres away from the Bocca di Brenta ( 2491 mt). It’s an ideal starting point for all climbs towards the central peaks of the group. Its position is also a fixed through way for all Brenta crossings from South-East to North-West.

Peller refuge

Situated at 2022 mt on the slopes of Mount Peller.

Reachable from Cles by car for about 17 km ( some parts are unasphalted ), or on foot via path 313.

Situated at the entrance of the Val Massodi at an altitude of 1630 mt.

Reachable from Molveno via path 319 in about 2 hours, or from the Pradel plateau via path 340 in about 1,30 hours.

Malga Spora refuge

Malga Spora is also a refuge during July and August : for bookings in June, September or October, it’s best to check beforehand with the local tourist association at Spormaggiore ( Pro Loco, tel : +39 0461 653637) or the town hall, tel : +39 0461 653555). Malga Spora is in a superb location in a plane at the foot of Mount Altissimo Gallino and Mount Crosara del Fibion.

Bait del Germano

Situated on the Paganella Gazza mountainous group, near Passo San Giovanni, at about a 2 hour walking distance from the Paganella lifts, and a three hour walking distance from Molveno.
