The Landscape
Molveno: The Landscape
The lake is 5 km long and 1km wide. It is the largest lake above 800m in the Dolomites.
Nature is the queen of Molveno, at all seasons: woods of beeches, larches and fir-trees tinge the variegated landscape with a green hue. Sylvan scents perfume the air.
From the beaches or any other point in the village one can admire the true beauty of the lake, a blue mirror in which the highest tops of the Brenta Dolomites are reflected. This is the most western of the Dolomite groups, destination to many an excursion since last century. Some ascents have marked the mythical age of classic mountaineering: Campanil Basso, Crozzon di Brenta.
Numerous paths start from around the lake and the village, often leading trekkers to pleasant alpine huts; from the most simple to the most extreme ones, all paths wind through woods, meadows and along creeks and rivers.
Molveno offers this view to the tourist who comes from the Piana Rotaliana.
