Castles, Museums and Wine cellars

Castles, Museums and Wine cellars.

For information on how to find the castles and museums, please visit the Castle page in the Trentino section.

The nearest castle in the direction of Riva del Garda, is Castel Stenico , about 15 km. from Molveno. In the opposite direction, towards Mezzolombardo, there are the ruins of Castel Belfort and farther still at 23 kms. is Castel Thun ( Vigo di Ton). Take time out to visit Trento with its Castello del Bounconsiglio and Rovereto with its Castel Beseno and Castello di Rovereto.

Castel Belfort

Castel Stenico

Among the many museums in the Trentino Region, a special mention goes to the Folk Museum ( Museo degli Usi e Costumi) at San Michele All’Adige, the Museo Tridentino delle Scienze naturali in Trento and the Museo Caproni ( aeronautics) also in Trento. At Rovereto, the Mart ( modern art) is a must, it also has a branch in Trento at the Palazzo delle Albere. All the museums and Castles are opened every day excluding Mondays.

While out and about why not visit some of the local wine cellars? The new “Cantina Rotari” at Mezzocorona is amazing and so is the Azienda Agricola Bellaveder at Belvedere Faedo ( tel 0461 1650171, www.bellaveder.it ) . Both have a restaurant and guided tours.
